My memory and the emotions linked to certain memories constantly fade; I photograph to understand better, to let go of the past and distant memories that are nostalgic to me.

I photograph to pour meaning into who I am.
Each photograph of mine is as unique as the memory that inspired it as it reassemble fragmented images of the past.

To me, photography disrupts, makes conscious and redraws invisibles lines. In doing so, it reminds me that though my life moves forward and leaves behind past memories, it is I who creates sense through those memories.

It is I who creates a new memory through the uncertain states and vulnerabilities of life.

I find it hard to understand life and society, to make sense of all the different aspects that we are born into - a system driven by power, money and exploitation, where greed seems to be put above the wellbeing of our planet.

Society is ignorance but Nature is bliss.

I find it important to use my photographic work as a tool to awaken consciousness and create a sense of awareness and respect for our irreplaceable landscapes; to not only challenge the mind set of society, but to evoke an emotional and tactile connection between Man and Nature.

My name is Elena Cremona, I was born in 1991 in Munich, Germany to an Italian father and a German mother. Experiencing different cultures, societies and landscapes have shaped the person I am today.

I graduated in 2015 with a first class Honours Bachelor Degree in Fine Art Photography from the prestigious Arts University Bournemouth and am currently living and working in London, where I run the collective The Earth Issue.

The content of my work centers around environmental and landscape coverage, bringing issues around Climate Change into focus, as well as shooting social documentary photography.
